City Chase Takes On Calgary

Web copy written for the “Updates and News” section of The Mitsubishi City Chase. The post had to capture the events of the 2011 Mitsubishi City Chase in Calgary and describe the day’s challenges, highlights, and adventures. This copy was also sent to event sponsors.

I worked with the editor and author of Picking Up The Ghost to re-write the back copy for the novel. The challenge was to update the copy to fit with the young adult genre.

Embrace The Odd

At the beginning of January 2012 I took over management of the ChiZine Publications Facebook and Twitter accounts. The goal was to increase ChiZine Publications’ online presence and create a sense of community between the company, its fans, and its authors.

Since January 2012, I have increased Facebook fans by 9.6% gaining over 230 fans and increased Twitter followers by 25.7% gaining over 320 followers in four months. In addition to this, I have instituted a series of regular posts to increase interactions including “Caption This” and “Behind The Scenes at CZP” which has been particularly useful for building the online community.

Share The Love Of Books

For Valentine’s Day ChiZine Publications created the “Share the Love Of Books” promotion. The promotion allowed fans to send personalized eCards and a free eBook to their friends. The goal of the promotion was to broaden the ChiZine Publications fan base and online presence. This was promoted through the ChiZine Publications mailing list, Facebook page, and Twitter account.

Over 50 personalized emails were sent to friends, mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers.

Door To Lost Pages Imaginary Books Contest

This contest was designed to promote Claude Lalumière’s novella The Door To Lost Pages. The novella featured a bookshop called Lost Pages which stocks books never seen anywhere before: bizarre bestiaries in arcane languages; histories of forgotten lands; dictionaries of dead; maps to lands that may never have been; antediluvian mythologies; and accounts of wars unknown to recorded history.

Participants were asked to submit the titles and synopsis of their imaginary book that would be found at Lost Pages. Two grand prizes were awarded: one for Author’s Choice and one for Reader’s Choice which was voted on by ChiZine Publications fans.
